Airtel commences NIN registration in retail outlets across Nigeria

Airtel Nigeria, a telecommunications service provider on Thursday says it has commenced the National Identity Number (NIN) registration exercise in its retail outlets across the country.
Airtel in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos said it was following an approval from the Federal Government which granted them a verification and enrolment license.
The telco said that while selected retail outlets in Lagos and Abuja were now fully operational to register Nigerians for the NIN exercise, work was currently ongoing to expand its NIN footprints to cover more areas and states.

Airtel Nigeria has commenced the National Identity Number registration exercise in its retail outlets across the country following the approval from the Federal Government granting telcos verification and enrolment license to enrol Nigerians.
Airtel said in a statement that select retail outlets in Lagos and Abuja were operational to register Nigerians for NIN, adding that work was currently ongoing to expand its NIN footprints to cover more areas and states.
It added that residents of Abuja could now visit Transcorp Hilton situated in Maitama or Airtel showrooms at Carpet Plaza and Kano Crescent in Wuse 2, while those in Lagos could go to Airtel Express Point, Oyin Jolayemi, Victoria Island and Airtel showroom in Adeniran Ogunsanya, Surulere. ....

Telecom operator, Airtel Africa, on Thursday, said it had renewed its 900 and 1800 Megahertz, MHZ spectrum licence fees for a 10-year period, paying N71.6 billion to the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC.
This is also as the telco begins registration of its subscribers for the National Identity Number, NIN, in outlets across the country.
According to the telco, the NCC approved the renewal of spectrum licences in 900 and 1800 Megahertz, MHZ, for its subsidiary Airtel Nigeria.
Spectrums are unique radio frequencies used for telecommunication over the airwaves.
Chief Executive Officer of Airtel Africa, Raghunath Mandava, said the spectrum licences were due to expire on November 30, 2021. ....
