A Michigan state lawmaker threatened to call Governor Gretchen Whitmer on cops who arrested him after he crashed his car while drunk, according to a police report.
Rep. Jewell Jones, 26, is accused of driving at twice the drink-drive limit with a loaded gun in his cup holder when he crashed his black Chevy into a ditch on the side of I-96 in Fowlerville, about 65 miles outside of Detroit.
He allegedly taunted state troopers who responded to the scene on April 6, telling them he ran their budget, and was pepper sprayed and tasered twice while resisting arrest, police say.

A Fowlerville man has been bound over for trial after being charged in a hit and run incident last year that left an Iosco Township teen seriously injured.
25-year-old Joseph Lee Ackerman was charged in December with Failure to Stop at the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Serious Impairment or Death. The Livingston County Sheriffâs Office says Ackerman was driving a Ford F-350 on the evening of July 26th, 2020 when he hit 17-year-old Lewis Higgins as he walked on Bull Run Road. A witness told deputies that the truckâs driver initially stopped after hitting Lewis but then left the scene. Higgins suffered serious injuries that included broken bones in his feet and legs and a fractured pelvis.

Meet Jewell Jones, one of the youngest and newest members of the Michigan legislature. The Democrat is also the latest public figure to find out how well the “do you know who I am” strategy plays with police, especially when at twice the legal limit for a DUI. Jewell got arrested and charged with several felonies after a a few fellow motorists called 911, warning Jones would likely kill someone, before he drove his car into a ditch.
All of that came out well over a week ago, but the body-cam and dashboard footage emerged only yesterday. No word yet, however, on how Jones’ call to Gretchen Whitmer might have gone:

A State Representative from Wayne County charged with drunk driving and resisting officers after a crash earlier this month near Fowlerville, reportedly threatened responding Michigan State Police troopers that he would call Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and report them.
Thatâs according to details reported by the Detroit Free Press based on police reports obtained under Michiganâs Freedom of Information Act, which also alleged that Democratic State Representative Jewell Jones of Inkster threatened their budget before fighting with officers trying to get him into custody. The 26-year-old Jones also is reported to have flashed a badge and said he was an-off duty officer. Jones, who is a reserve officer for the Inkster Police Department, was arraigned last week on four felony counts including Resisting and Obstructing a Police Officer, and Operating a Motor Vehicle with a High Blood Alcohol Content.
