The magic and merriment of Christmas will once again come alive on the streets of downtown Waynesville with the annual Night Before Christmas festivities, slated from 6-9 p.m. on Saturday evening, Dec. 12.
Tucked away from the strolling carolers, the horse-drawn wagon rides and luminary-lined sidewalks, visitors can also journey back in time to the night of Jesus’ birth in a re-created scene of Bethlehem.
Living history re-enactors play the part of Bethlehem villagers — hawking fish, toiling over a blacksmith anvil, dipping wax candles, playing dreidel and offering samples of foods from Biblical times, like hummus, dates and fennel seeds. ....
