Hundreds of unaccompanied migrant children are being shipped to California to be cared for in an emergency shelter set up at the San Diego Convention Center after crossing the border into Texas. 
Sources told DailyMail.com that 12 buses containing 725 children arrived on just one night shortly after the temporary facility opened in April.
The facility has space for 1,450 children and is already nearing capacity with 1,317 installed at the center on May 1. 
It comes as Texas has been overwhelmed by an influx of migrants crossing the Rio Grande River - many of them families and unaccompanied children. ....

San Diego Convention Center migrant facility now taking in younger boys and girls

The San Diego Convention Center, which initially received teenage girls when it opened as a temporary facility for unaccompanied migrant children last month, is now also taking in younger boys and girls as well.
The younger children are ages 5 to 12, and some, but not all, are traveling with older teenage sisters. Siblings are being kept together at the downtown San Diego building, according to Carol Fiertz, spokeswoman for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, rather than separated by age and gender.
“Needs change,” Fiertz said on Monday afternoon.
The federal government asked San Diego officials for temporary use of the facility in March as part of the Biden administration’s efforts to expand the department’s capacity to hold migrant children in its custody after crossing the border. Children are supposed to be transferred to Health and Human Services’ Office of Refugee Resettlement within 72 hours, but many were staying in Border Pat ....

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) More than 200 additional unaccompanied minors seeking asylum in the United States are now in San Diego. They were transported to the San Diego Convention Center Friday to help alleviate overcrowded Customs and Border Protection facilities in the southwest.
Another plane believed to be carrying children seeking asylum touched down at San Diego International Airport Friday evening. It was the second of two flights scheduled Friday, bringing a total of 222 children ages 5 to 12 to the San Diego Convention Center s Emergency Intake Site, HHS official, Carol Fiertz told ABC 10News. ....

Fact check: San Diego homeless weren't evicted to move in migrants


The claim: A homeless facility in San Diego was closed to shelter migrants
A viral image of a purported homeless shelter in San Diego is being shared on social media alongside the claim that it was recently shut down to move in migrants. 
Homeless shelter in San Deigo (sic) is being closed to US Citizens and opened to put iLLEGALS in it, reads a March 29 screenshot of another Facebook post.
Accompanying the text is an alleged image of the homeless shelter.  Outrageous, the user captioned the post, which has over 1,000 shares.
In a similar version of the claim, a user shared a text post that reads, San Diego just kicked out 1400 homeless people to shelter illegals.Any more questions?? Another user claimed in a post with 1,500 shares that the alleged eviction of homeless people took place at the San Diego Convention Center.  ....
