Bridgeville man pleads guilty to federal child porn charges


A Bridgeville man pleaded guilty in federal court to child pornography charges.
Paul Chretien, 66, pleaded guilty to charges of distribution of material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor and possession of material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor, United States Attorney Scott W. Brady announced Thursday.
He pleaded guilty to two counts before U.S. District Judge Joy Flowers Conti.
The court was advised of two instances of this behavior in connection with the guilty plea.
On Sept. 26, 2018, Chretien distributed images in computer graphic files that depicted the sexual exploitation of a minor.
On Feb. 6, 2019, he possessed images in computer graphic files which involved minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct. Some of the children were under 12 years old. ....

As St. Philip Catholic School in Crafton faces closure, group appeals decision

St. Philip Catholic School in Crafton is scheduled to close as part of a merger, but a group of parents is determined to reverse Bishop David Zubik’s decision.
The Diocese of Pittsburgh announced in February the school would merge with St. Margaret of Scotland School in Green Tree and that the change would become effective at the start of the 2021-22 academic year. The St. Margaret site would host St. Philip school.
The Committee to Save St. Philip School, a group of around 10 to 12 parents and alumni, formally appealed Zubik’s decision on Feb. 22 and has been drumming up support through an online petition and in-person “mandate” signings, which, according to canon (church) law, are needed in order to proceed with the appeal through a procurator and an attorney. ....

Sen. Robinson's bill to boost veterans donations when renewing driver license passed unanimously by Pa. Senate

A measure introduced by a South Hills lawmaker to increase the amount of money that can be donated to help military veterans when a resident renews their vehicle documents was approved unanimously by the Pennsylvania Senate.
Sen. Devlin Robinson, R-Bridgeville, was the prime sponsor of Senate Bill 96, which increases the maximum donation to the Veterans’ Trust Fund to $5 for a one-year renewel for a driver’s license, state ID or vehicle registration; and $10 for a two-year renewal.
The current maximum donation is $3 for one-year renewals and $6 for two years. ....
