Longtime Ellington Middle School teacher Donald Beerworth has passed away. He was 81. (Courtesy of Carmon Community Funeral Homes)
ELLINGTON, CT Donald Beerworth, a standout high school and college athlete who went on to teach and coach at Ellington Middle School for over 35 years, died Thursday. He was 81.
Beerworth graduated from Rockville High School in 1957, after lettering for four years in three sports. In his senior year, The Duck was the top scorer on the soccer and basketball teams, tying a career high of 23 points in his final basketball game, a 68-58 win over Middletown. He also led the baseball team in hitting that season, earning team MVP honors, and was voted Class Athlete. He was inducted into the Rockville High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015. ....
