No bond for Birmingham woman charged in deadly street racing crash that killed grandmother Updated 10:36 AM; Facebook Share Carmesia Flannigan appeared before District Judge Katrina Ross Tuesday. The 22-year-old suspect was re-arrested April 7 in Georgia after U.S. Marshals and Birmingham police had searched for her for two weeks. She was extradited to Alabama on April 13 and booked back into the Jefferson County Jail. She is charged with murder, leaving the scene of an accident with injury and unlawful possession of a controlled substance in the March 21 death of 52-year-old Brandy Ballard. Following her release from jail after her initial arrest, Flannigan posted two separate Facebook Live videos laced with expletives blaming Ballard for the crash. “That old ass lady swerved in my lane,’ Flannigan said on the video. The videos were deleted from Facebook but were posted to YouTube and has had thousands of views. ....

From The Tribune staff reports BIRMINGHAM U.S. Marshals arrested a Birmingham woman who has been on the run for two weeks after her bond was revoked for a murder charge. Carol Robinson, with al.com, reports Carmesia Flannigan, 22, was taken into custody around 6:15 a.m. in the Atlanta area. Flannigan is charged with murder in the death of 52-year-old Brandy Lee Moore Ballard. Ballard died after the crash on Sunday, March 21, 2021, on Arkadelphia Road in Birmingham. Prosecutors said the suspect was racing when her vehicle crossed the center line and struck Ballard’s vehicle, head-on. Flannigan was also charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and leaving the scene of an accident with injury. She was placed in the Jefferson County Jail on bonds totaling $175,000 and was released the next day after posting bond. ....
