New entertainment venue takes center stage in Central Jersey

There’s a loaded roster of talent on the bill for the “Viva la Vida” show this weekend at the Carteret Performing Arts and Events Center, but perhaps the biggest name on the marquee is . . . well, the venue itself.

Originally scheduled raise its first curtain last fall, the new 55,000-square-foot facility at 45 Washington Ave. finally held a “soft opening” concert on April 24 with That Motown Band, and will continue its coming-out party 7 p.m. Saturday, May 8, with “Viva la Vida,” a dinner show starring a mix of Latin-American and Italian artists. ....
