So far hundreds of acres have gone up in flames as firefighters race to get a handle on all of it. Good evening, im lucy noland. Im iain page. Todays weather making it a perfect storm for crews fighting the fire. Fox 29s Chris Oconnell is live in shamong township tonight. Are firefighters gaining any ground . Reporter they are iain and luce seem we are here at the incident command center. Forestry officials are saying this fire that has burned more than 700 acres is now more than 50 contained. But as you said that that fire continues to burn tonight. We have live pictures from above skyfox hovering over the scene now where you see hot spots lighting up the night sky. The Pinelands Scenic Byway, a network of three dozen roads through five southern New Jersey counties, has been designated a National Scenic Byway by the U.S. Department of Transportation.New Jersey Pinelands Commission

Federal officials have officially named a 130-mile route through the New Jersey Pine Barrens as a national scenic byway, a designation that regulators and friends of the pinelands say will increase awareness of the environmentally sensitive region’s beauty and historical significance, and boost local tourism.
