SAN DIEGO A woman who in 1984 convinced five Marines to kill her husband himself a Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton is getting another chance at possible parole this week. Laura Ann Troiani’s latest parole bid comes more than two years after California’s then-Gov. Jerry Brown commuted her sentence from life without the possibility of parole to 35 years to life, citing her account of “significant domestic abuse by her husband.” Now 59, Troiani is slated for a parole suitability hearing Friday at the Chino prison where she is being held. It’s her second parole hearing since the commutation. She lost her first bid for release in 2019, with the board citing lack of remorse and insight, and downplaying her role in the killing, according to the District Attorney’s Office. ....
