A development proposal that would raze in the razing of the former Grand Department building at 1101-1113 W. Historic Mitchell St. to make way for an apartment building development was granted approval by the Common Council on Tuesday morning, not without a qualifier.
Milwaukee’s Historic Preservation Commission on Wednesday voted 4-3 to deny a certificate of appropriateness to allow developer Zuwena Cotton to raze the former Grand department store building at 1101-1113 W. Historic Mitchell St. to make way for an apartment building development.
