The May 2 gathering followed a 10 a.m. Mass at which the parish unveiled a new shrine to Venerable Matt Talbot, a favorite patron among parishioners and those served by adjacent Our House Ministries. St. Gabriel’s Two South Philly Roman Catholic churches, St. Gabriel in Grays Ferry and Epiphany of Our Lord in Lower Moyamensing, made their way onto the cityâs list of historically designated places Friday morning by way of a unanimous vote from the Philadelphia Historical Commissionâs board. A buildingâs designation to the Philadelphia Register of Historic Places means that the structure cannot be demolished, save for rare circumstances.
