Key Chorale goes for Baroque
Like other organizations that have been experimenting with digital performances and testing how many artists they can safely bring together in one space, Key Chorale is expanding its group of musicians for its “Bach Together Again” concert that makes its digital debut Friday. Artistic Director Joseph Caulkins said he chose the Baroque program, which features Vivaldi’s “Gloria” and Johann Sebastian Bach’s “Magnificat,” because of the joyful and uplifting qualities in the music. It features the Key Chorale Chamber singers, orchestra musicians and soloists. It will be available on the group’s website through Feb. 21. keychorale.org ....

Taking the music outdoors
Editors Note: The Sarasota Orchestra announced Friday that the Sunday concerts were canceled due to weather and concerns about protecting valuable instruments. More outdoor concerts are scheduled in coming months.
When the Sarasota Orchestra adapted its seasonal concerts to feature chamber programs inside Holley Hall, it focused on musicians who can perform while wearing face masks. That left out brass and woodwind players, who are now bringing the music to the people in a series of outdoor parks concerts that continue this weekend and extend into April. At 2:30 p.m. Sunday, the Sarasota Wind Quintet will perform at Nathan Benderson Park, while the Sarasota Orchestra Chamber Players will perform at the Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast’s Bay Preserve at Osprey. The concerts are presented, weather perm ....

A world of art at The Ringling
A new exhibition will be frequently changing for visitors to the Ringling Museum. “For Real This Time” is a new video installation that explores social justice issues through the work of eight different artists. Deanna Bowen’s “sum of the parts: what can be named, 2010 is the opening feature through Jan. 7. The artist videos, which continue through May 16, examine “the current state of American society and pose uncomfortable yet vital questions about personal and collective attitudes toward issues of race and inequality,” according to the museum. Coming up are videos by Allison Janae Hamilton, John Sims, Cauleen Smith, Martine Syms, Kara Walker and Bear Witness.
