Family camp model creates new opportunities for family togetherness, fun
Carissa Nelson, 4-H Media Communications Manager, Illinois Extension
GALESBURG Families will have the chance to create new memories as they experience 4-H Memorial Camp together this summer as 4-H unveils a new Family Camp model for 2021. Families will have the opportunity to stay together in cabins while experiencing outdoor adventures and activities throughout their stay.
“While safety is our first priority, we knew we wanted the camp to be used in some capacity this summer,” says Andy Davis, University of Illinois Extension 4-H Memorial Camp director. “All of the things that make camp great like outdoor adventures, hiking, boating, and swimming are just as fun socially distanced once we flipped to a family camp model.”

Summer 4-H conference lets teens virtually explore potential careers

GALESBURG For many teens, deciding where they want to attend college and what they may want to study is challenging. Some may even be the first in their family to attend college.
Illinois 4-H makes college and career exploration easier for teens in the state by hosting a five-day conference with University of Illinois faculty where youth can explore fields of study before committing to one path.
The long-standing conference will be virtual for 2021. After a 2020 cancellation due to COVID, Illini Summer Academies is getting a redesign to provide a virtual program that will provide teens the opportunity to explore future careers while working with Illinois professors.
