National Bail Out Collective frees Black moms, caregivers for Mother's Day

For the past five years, the National Bail Out Collective has been paying bail bonds for Black moms and caregivers to free them from pretrial detention so they can spend Mother’s Day with their families. 
“We just broke another record!!” the organization tweeted Saturday. “Thanks to your support, we surpassed our goal of $750K! Tomorrow is #MothersDay – will you help us get to $1 Million to #FreeBlackMamas?!”

The National Bail Out Collective is Freeing Black Moms for Mother s Day
NBO has raised over $5 million in 5 years to free as many Black mamas and caregivers as possible so that they can come home” and spend Mother’s Day with their families.
Today, the National Bail Out Collective (NBO) announces its fifth annual Black Mama’s Bail Outs initiative and the second to take place during COVID-19 to “free[] as many Black mamas and caregivers as possible so that they can come home” and spend Mother’s Day with their families.
NBO “is a Black-led and Black-centered collective of abolitionist organizers, lawyers and activists building a community-based movement to support [Black] folks and end systems of pretrial detention and ultimately mass incarceration.” They are a group of “people who have been impacted by cages – either by being in them [themselves] or witnessing [their] families and loved ones be caged.” ....

Deborah Rubin and Celine Ritter posted gold medal performances to help the Lee University women’s track & field team to a first place standing following the first day of the 2021 Gulf South Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
The Lady Flames accumulated 35 points in three scored events to lead second place Shorter University (27) by eight points.
West Georgia is in third (17) and Alabama Huntsville is fourth (15) with Mississippi College (12) and Montevallo (11) in fifth and sixth, respectively.
Rubin finished first in the hammer throw with a Lee record toss of 49.60 meters. Mattie Thomas placed 10 ....
