CXC set to reveal 2021 exam details by tomorrow
Students across the region will find out by Wednesday what recommendations the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) will approve or forgo regarding the 2021 examinations and procedures.
In recent weeks, CXC officials have been engaged with Caricom’s Council of Human and Social Development (COHSOD), regional education ministers, other government officials and teachers on the conception and planning of the 2021 regional examinations.
In a statement issued over the weekend, the regional examination body said the governance committee has been in the process of reviewing these recommendations as just last Friday the CXC’s School Examinations Committee met. ....

Several CXC students defer exams to 2022, school-based assessments deadline extended
Local Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) registrar Myrick Smith said several candidates out of the 2,000 registered in Antigua and Barbuda for the June 2021 examination sitting are opting to sit the regional exams in 2022.
This, he said, is mainly because of time lost during the Covid-19 pandemic, disruption to school schedules and the need to complete school-based assessments (SBAs) and the CXC examination syllabus.
He also pointed out that for the first time in the history of the examinations, the examining body implemented a deferral period to allow students registered for the examination, especially in the countries significantly impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic like Trinidad and Tobago, and Jamaica, the option to not sit them in the upcoming May-June period for the aforementioned reasons. ....

THE Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) is doing its best to ensure that no student is left behind when it comes to writing this year s CAPE and CSEC examinations. CXC Registrar and CEO Dr Wayne Wesley gave that assurance during a virtual news conference on Monday.
Earlier in the conference, Bahamas education minister and chairman of Caricom s Council of Human and Social Development Jeffrey Lloyd said, The council agreed that CXC should administer the CAPE and CSEC examinations in their original format.
The exams are best scheduled in June to July, with results being available to the ministers of education in last weeks of September. ....
