As the Heartland approaches high heat indexes this weekend, the City of Carbondale wants to remind the community that the Carbondale Warming Center is available
The Carbondale Warming Center, located at 608 East College Street, will be open this weekend to serve as a cooling center amid the high temperatures predicted.
Carmalita Cahill, Executive Director of Carbondale Warming Center, will speak at the Southern Illinois Learning in Retirement (SILIR) meeting on April 17 at 10:30 am. Ms. Cahill has been with the Warming Center since it opened in December 2019 at its current location of 608 East College Street. The Carbondale Warming Center, an emergency homeless shelter, actively assists members of the community who find themselves in a housing crisis. <br/>Ms. Cahill holds a degree in Public Relations and Marketing and is completing a master’s degree in Organizational Management and Leadership. <br/>The presentation, free and open to the public, will be at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 1501 W Chautauqua Street, Carbondale.
