MANILA - Private sector workers in all 16 regions of the country will have their salaries hiked following the issuance of orders by their respective regional wage boards which would all take effect this June, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said Wednesday. In a news release, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said the wage orders that will be effective before the end of June are in Eastern Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Calabarzon, and Caraga. The PHP35 wage hike in the Zamboanga Peninsula will take effect on June 25 while the PHP50 pay hike in Eastern Visayas will take effect on June 27. Starting June 30, wage hikes will also take effect in Calabarzon and Caraga, where the monthly minimum wage will be PHP4,000. The new minimum wage rates in Eastern Visayas will be PHP345 to PHP375 and PHP338 to PHP351 in the Zamboanga Peninsula and the minimum wage of PHP350 to PHP470 for Calabarzon.
