Police are hunting a group of men after a woman was raped in what officers have described as a random and sickening attack . Shortly after 12.30am earlier today, police were called to a report of the rape of a woman in Wythenshawe, Greater Manchester. Initial enquiries suggest a woman in her 20s was attacked in Kirkup Gardens. A significant police presence remains in place as officers continue to search for evidence at the scene. Pictures from the scene show a play area in the park has been taped off and police are in place guarding the cordon.  No arrests have been made, and officers are appealing to anyone with information to get in touch.

The victim, in her 20s, was set upon in Kirkup Gardens in the city’s Wythenshawe area at 12.30am on Tuesday. Police described the crime as “random and sickening”. Parts of the park remained taped off on Tuesday afternoon as inquiries continued – but no arrests have yet been made. Chief Inspector Cara Charlesworth, of Greater Manchester Police, said: “A truly horrendous incident took place last night and we are supporting the victim at this awful time with our specialist officers.
