Tambuwal canvasses more funding for BCDA

Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State has appealed to the federal government and the National Assembly to adjust budgetary provision of the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA) to enable it function optimally.
Governor Tambuwal made the appeal while receiving the Executive Secretary of the agency, Captain Junaidu Adamu Abdullahi at Government House, Sokoto.
He appealed to the executive and legislative arms of government to pay more attention to the agency and strengthen its operational capabilities, more especially now that the country is having challenges of bandits and transborder criminals in the communities living along its border lines. ....

NDLEA raids large cannabis warehouse in Edo forest

The Edo State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the weekend, raided a large cannabis warehouse situated in a forest in Owan West Local Government Area of the state.
The illicit drug warehouse, according to the state Commandant of the anti-drug agency, Buba Wakawa, comprised four large cannabis stored with a total of 233,778kg of marijuana with an estimated street value of over N1.4 billion.
He also said seven suspected drug barons believed to be running the cannabis trafficking syndicate have been apprehended.
Wakawa, who described the discovery as the largest single concentration of cannabis discovered by the command, gave the breakdown of the marijuana as 318 bags of 80kg with each weighing 25,440kg; and 15,853 bags of 13kg weighing 206,089kg, adding however, that while the total quantity seized is 2,249kg, others weighing 231,529kg were destroyed on the spot. ....

Two shot as Osun communities clash over land - Daily Post Nigeria

The Osun State Police Command has disclosed that two persons sustained gunshot wounds following the breakout of communal clash between Erin-Osun and Ilobu communities.
Both communities, which are located in Irepodun Local Government Area of the State, have been engaged in a long drawn land dispute.
DAILY POST reports that the crisis broke out on Saturday afternoon and as the news filtered into both neighbouring communities, youths were said to have mobilised themselves to the disputed area where two houses were said to have been vandalised.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the State police command, Yemisi Opalola, said two persons from Ilobu, Azeez Adamu and Abdullah Tairu were shot in the legs during the crisis. ....
