Poll: 74 percent of Americans expect more attempted violence during week of inauguration

Seventy-four percent of Americans think it s either somewhat or very likely there will be more attempts at violence in Washington, D.C., next week as the city prepares for President-elect Joe Biden
An overwhelming amount of Biden voters, 92 percent, say violence in D.C. is least somewhat likely, along with 49 percent of supporters of President Trump
The poll comes one week after a pro-Trump mob of rioters stormed the Capitol to disrupt Congress’s certification of the Electoral College vote and Biden’s election win. The riots resulted in five deaths, including a Capitol Police officer and a woman shot by another plainclothes officer.  ....

Facebook Inc’s operations chief said she was glad that the company had frozen Trump’s accounts
Facebook Inc’s operations chief Sheryl Sandberg said on Monday the world’s largest social network had no plans to lift its block on the accounts of US President Donald Trump, as the company clamped down on a phrase that has become a rallying cry for the president’s supporters.
Sandberg, speaking during the Reuters Next conference, said she was glad that Facebook had frozen Trump’s accounts, which came as tech giants scrambled to crack down on his baseless claims about fraud in the U.S. presidential election amid riots in Washington last week. ....

New York City is considering ending its business contracts with President Trump

The president’s company, which he still owns but passed day-to-day operations to his sons, has contracts with New York City to run a carousel, two ice rinks and a golf course in the city’s parks. The Trump Organization has made about $17 million from the park concessions, The Washington Post reported, citing the president’s most recent financial disclosures.

“The attacks on our Capitol killed a police officer, left four rioters dead, exposed lawmakers to COVID-19 and threatened the constitutional transfer of power. They were a national abomination,” Feyer said in a statement. ....
