Homeland security. the deal was just the first hurdle. up next you have the vote and key voices on the right, both in the media and on capitol hill say, this isn t good enough. house freedom caucus chairman mark meadows a close trump ally tweeting that the deal isn t serious and that, quote, congress is not doing its job. and while the president says another shutdown isn t likely that doesn t mean that he approves. sir, will you sign congress s border deal? i have to study it. i m not happy about it. it s not doing the trick, but i m adding things to it and when you add whatever i have to add, it s all it s all going to happen where we ll build a beautiful, big strong wall. cnn s abby phillip is live at the white house and abby, we just heard the president say that he s adding things to this deal struck by congress. reporter: it s not clear ....
And there s in addition to the fact that mitch mcconnell had nothing to say publicly outside the white house, there is a report indicating he has absolutely nothing to say in the room when the president was in the room talking to chuck schumer and nancy pelosi, and that s just inconceivable. yes. that the senate majority leader would be in the room with the speaker and the president and not say a word. well, i mean, look, i think he s still obviously feeling burned by the way the president has handled this entire thing and doesn t want to get burned again. but, look, i mean, i do think we are coming quickly if you listen to the ten or of the reporting that was coming out from the hill over the course of this day and you started to hear republicans, even before the pelosi and schumer meeting where trump walked out, even before that, you were starting to hear this aimient noise of republicans on capitol hill say, well, there is really only one way out of this. the only way out ....

Illegal immigration. sounds like something you probably said. here is the thing that interests me today in particular. which is everybody is so overwrought about mattis resigning and the president being so stubborn about congress and not listening to people and the like. he is exactly who he said he would be on the campaign trail. the difference this week is that republicans in congress and elsewhere are finally starting to believe that. but they voted for him. they knew exactly who he was. it s not like he s changing his tune. he has consistently said, i ll shut the government down no matter what if i don t get my way. i don t care what these yahoos on capitol hill say. you know? i don t believe in troops in, you know, wars across the world. i mean, he has always been this person. this reckless, this irresponsible. and yet republicans voted for him anyway. and now they re like, oh, my god, what are we going to do? the president is so irresponsible. let me ask, because, you know, r ....
Donald trump. why don t we still have those answers? well, again, i will tell you, this goes beyond, i think, what a lot of us in the democratic party are saying publicly. i think privately, folks that i have talked to on capitol hill say, look, we are hitching our wagons to a bureau that very clearly through the ig report has shown up to some pretty bad things. question questionable things. if we re t. were to happen to us, we would be raising holy hell. ed: yeah. privately democrats are saying fbi needs to be held to account here and they haven t been so far and that s wrong. irrespective of party. that s wrong. ed: i have 30 seconds. adam schiff will be the democrat taking over the house intel committee. another thing he says he wants to investigate is the u.s. intel assessment of jamal khashoggi. as you know the president has come under criticism for not seeming to accept the cia s analysis. you are a former cia official as i noted. where do you think all that stands tonigh ....
