Edmonton Zone reaches milestone with 10,000 active COVID-19 cases

The Edmonton area has reached an all-time high for active cases in any of the province’s health regions, passing 10,000 for the first time.
The zone, which encompasses the city and neighbouring municipalities, hit 10,194 cases on Monday.

Active cases have more than doubled in the Edmonton Zone in less than a month. As of Nov. 17, there were 4,138 in the region.
Monday’s record also comes less than a month after the province reached the same troubling milestone: Alberta recorded more than 10,000 active cases across the entire province for the first time Nov. 16. ....

Alberta recorded 22 deaths attributed to COVID-19 on Sunday, setting a new daily record on a day substantial new restrictions came into effect across the province.
In the County of Vermilion River cases more than doubled from last week reporting 57 active cases as of Monday morning. Cases in St. Paul County skyrocketed, with 151 active cases reported as of Monday morning.
