Cape Cod residents may see a helicopter flying low in the sky this week as it distributes thousands of rabies vaccine across the region.
Oral rabies vaccine baits are set to be distributed throughout Plymouth and Barnstable counties starting Monday, according to a statement from the Cape Cod & Southeast Massachusetts Rabies Task Force. The group is collaborating with the U.S. Department of Agriculture/Wildlife Services on the project to help control raccoon rabies.
Roughly 68,000 baits will be distributed by a low-flying, red-and-black helicopter and by bait stations in Bourne, Carver, Kingston, Lakeville, Marion, Middleboro, Plymouth, Rochester, Sandwich and Wareham from Monday to Saturday, the Cape Cod Times reported. ....
