Barnstable County officials are directing people seeking their first COVID-19 vaccination shots to a new state-run, preregistration system called Color.
Color will allow people to book appointments at both mass vaccination sites, the closest of which is in Dartmouth, as well as locations run by regional collaboratives such as the Cape Cod Regional Vaccine Consortium. I do think it will be easier, Barnstable County spokesperson Sonja Sheasley said. It will be less of a contest and more of a preregistration.
The new preregistration site can be found at www.mass.gov/info-details/preregister-for-a-covid-19-vaccine-appointment.
County officials said their clinics will no longer be posted on www.maimmunizations.org, a state-run website that came under fire numerous times for its difficulty of use and tendency to crash at times of high demand.

WEST BARNSTABLE A new mass vaccination site at Cape Cod Community College is expected to dispense 4,000 doses of vaccine next week to the region’s most vulnerable residents and senior citizens, Michael K. Lauf, president and CEO of Cape Cod Healthcare, said Thursday.
The vaccination site being run by Cape Cod Healthcare with Barnstable County and local officials came about as a result of local entities coming together to form the Cape Cod Regional Vaccine Consortium
The consortium was approved Wednesday by Gov. Charlie Baker, state Sen. Julian Cyr, D-Truro, said during a Thursday morning press briefing by the Cape Cod COVID-19 Response Task Force.
The Cape Cod Community College vaccination site will have the capacity to vaccinate more than 750 people daily, though that number will remain dependent upon the number of doses received
