Residents have called on the Christchurch City Council to be more diverse. Some boundary changes to wards have also been proposed, upsetting some communities who say the move will split their neighbourhoods in half. About 220 submissions were received, with some residents calling for more widespread changes. During a hearing on Monday, when people got to speak to their submissions, Williams said women represented 46 per cent to 58 per cent of councillors between 2001 and 2010, when two councillors were elected per ward.
