As Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity 2021 wraps up, Dentsu Webchutney and FCB Interface emerged as the most awarded agencies. Indian agencies brought home 2 Gold Lions, 10 silver lions and 10 Bronze Lions – a total of 22 awards.
As a part of the Punishing Signal campaign, the first leg of activation was tested in Mumbai at important junctions that are most prone to heavy traffic such as CSMT, Marine Drive, Peddar Road, Hindmata and Bandra. The Lions Live (the online version of the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity) saw a session by Ram Krishnan, global chief officer at PepsiCo. Krishnan spoke about how Covid-19 brought the world to a halt in 2020, and yet, it delivered five years of tech-centric revolution across industries and businesses.
 
Krishnan began the session by expressing his fascination for the trigger points in history that changed the entire consumer adoption of e-commerce as a channel. “You go through decades when nothing happens and then there are moments where decades happen in a very short period. We had personal computers and the internet which led to the acceleration of different business models. And then, there was the advent of the 2003 SARS outbreak in China and parts of Southeast Asia, which became an inflection point.” ....

Actor Reese Witherspoon got so annoyed with the way women were being portrayed in Hollywood, that she set up her own media company.
 
In a talk at Lions Live (the online version of the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity), Witherspoon stated how the media company has since looked to tackle not only issues about gender equality but also about racial discrimination, LGBTQ and differently-abled people.
 
Explaining how the journey began, Witherspoon said, “It was around 2011 when I realised that scripts were greatly deteriorating. I was reading 12 scripts a year that I would consider starring in. It then became six, then four and was down to two. I remember, in particular, that there was this one script that I read that was just so dismal. It had a terrible female lead that was completely in service of the male lead. There were a bunch of boob jokes; I thought it was misogynistic and not funny. I called my agent and told he ....

Mumbai: Dentsu Webchutney continued its winning spree on day four of the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2021, winning two Silver Lions and two Bronze Lions, taking its total metal tally to seven. Cheil India picked up its first Silver Lion on day four, FCB Interface a Bronze, and Ogilvy India won a Bronze Lion rounding off day four with 21 Lions for India. ....
