Phi Delt and AEPi ordered to cease operations, others continue to party
After reports of Greek Life hosting parties across Miami since the start of the spring semester, fraternities Phi Delta Theta and Alpha Epsilon Pi at the University of Miami have been ordered to cease operations. First reported by sources in Greek Life and later confirmed by the Dean of Students Office, both Phi Delt and AEPi are being investigated for misbehavior.
Phi Delt President John Paragioudkis declined to comment, and AEPi President Michael Mesbah did not reply to a request for comment.
Members of Greek Life have continued to violate the university’s social distancing policies at various off-campus locations. Although Phi Delt and AEPi are currently being told to cease operations, this has not prevented other organizations from partying across the city. ....

UM students win PSA competition

UM students Julia Hecht and Julie Erhardt tied for 1st place in the Red Ribbon Week national campus video PSA contest. The duo won $3,000 to support UM’s drug education and prevention efforts.
UM students Julia Hecht and Julie Erhardt tied for first place in the Red Ribbon Week National Campus Video Public Service Announcement contest. The duo won $3,000 to support UM’s drug education and prevention efforts, the ability to attend the Drug Enforcement Administration’s strategies conference and a plaque commemorating their achievements.
“We got the opportunity to do something cool for our campus and at the same time, share a message that is important to all of us,” Erhardt said. ....

Public Health Ambassadors Program boosts its staff

The number of ambassadors has been increased from 75 to 100 as the University continues to support a safe environment and help students adhere to COVID-19 guidelines.
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to challenge the global community, a year after the first confirmed case of the virus in the United States, students at the University of Miami continue to do their part to avert the spread. With the spring semester operating similarly to last fall, the Butler Center for Service and Leadership announced its plan to add additional students to fill the role as public health ambassadors. ....
