we re following the breaking news in chardon, ohio. a suspect is in custody. the investigation is unfolding. here s the news conference that s happening right now. and rapidly. yesterday s event, as a result of that training and practice, if you would, law enforcement was quickly placed inside the school upon arrival. and we believe that that helped to lessen the tragedy that occurred. unfortunately, much had occurred prior to law enforcement s arrival. i d like to bring joe bernance, chardon s school superintendent to speak. first of all, i d like to thank our law enforcement for working with us so diligently over the last couple of hours. noejs, our sympathy goes out to the five victims in the case, there s not a lot you can say when you are responsible for the safety of 3100 kids, other than the fact that we re going to do the best we can to make sure our schools continue to be safe and continue to work with law enforceme enforcement. we have grief counselors ava ....

Nonetheless, our heartfelt sympathy goes up to the five victims in the case. there is not a lot you can say when you are responsible for the safety of 3100 kids other than the fact we re going to do the best we can to make sure our schools continue to be safe and continue to work with law enforcement. we do have grief counselors available as we speak at our middle school from 3:00 to 8:00 tonight. we have organized a candlelight vigil at st. mary s church tomorrow night at 7:00. we will have counselors available for obviously for the victims and their families. we have school personnel who are on their way this afternoon to the victims at the hospitals to make sure that we maintain that connection from our school personnel to the victims and their families. we are also making sure the grief counselors are available ....
