so let s talk i always wanted to know this. is there do you guys talk about where, let s say, the 10 poorest communities are in america? because it seems to me that, you know, jesus says the poor would always be with us. but it seems to me that we need to start going to the hardest t hardest-hit places in america and just like treating a cancer go in and do whatever we can to help the children first, and then help the communities, help the single parents. i mean, how do we focus like a laser on the truly disadvantaged, the most disadvantaged? i think part of it has to do with reshifting our framework because we tend to look at the world through the lens of the powerful. think for example about austerity.
the economy is still weak. it s going to help you make ends meet, but it s also going to mean more customers for businesses. it will increase demand. it s right for the economy, and i would sign that bill today if it came to my desk. [ applause ] tell congress to get past their differences and send me a road construction bill so that companies can put tens of thousands of people to work right now building our roads and bridges and airports and seaports. i mean, think about it. america used to have the best stuff, best roads, best airports, best seaports. we re slipping behind because we re not investing in it, because of politics and gridlock. do you want to put people to work right now rebuilding america? you ve got to send that message to congress. send send a message to congress to come to an agreement on trade deals that will level the playing field and open markets to our businesses so we can sell more goods to countries around the world. yeah, we ve got a lot of ameri
a complimentary treatment? that s right. it s not just surgery and chemo. if someone has cancer, they will inject the cancer with a little bit of dye. what they are trying to figure out where would this cancer go if it started to spread? the dye will tell you and take out the lymph node where the dye goes and make their decisions based on that. if it has spread the thinking it has spread other places as well. simply removing it through surgery is not going to do the trick. you have to give radiation and chemotherapy and then you get the same survival rate. it makes a huge difference. by the way, i ll tell you that lymph node procedure is really quite invasive. the women complain about this morning anything else. swelling of the arm, they get numbness, this burning sensation, all of those symptoms there and a lot of times the women have these procedures done at a young age so the rest of their lives they are dealing with an arm that doesn t work as it used to. you talk about slo
less invasive and now people think of what s known as a lumpectomy, removing the cancer and also the lymph nodes. what they re saying now is taking out the lymph nodes really may not be necessary at all. and that s a big deal for lots of different reasons but let me just tell you when someone develops a cancer they ll inject a little dye into the cancer. their question is where would the cancer go if it started to spread. it would go to lymph nodes. then they d biopsy the lymph knowed. if it came back with cancer this he would remove all the lymph nodes. now they say you don t need to do that. you can look specifically at the survival rates in people who have lymph nodes removed versus those who didn t and you find little different. 17 lymph nodes 92%. just two to see if the cancer is there in the first place around the same percentage, the same survival rate. you may not need that procedure anymore. this is amazing and the reason why this is huge is actually the we re talking abou
