Our guest is richard trumka, president of the aflcio. This is his ninth visit to the troop and we appreciate the tradition. Our guest grew up in the pennsylvania goal coalfield, following his father and grandfather into the mine. He earned a law degree from the one of the university and in 1982, at age 33, he was elected president of the United Mine Workers of america, the youngest person in history to hold that position. He served three terms as president and brought the workers into the aflcio. In 1985, he ran to be secretary of treasure and the youngest person to hold that person, when he held for 15 years. He was elected as president of the aflcio in september of 2009 and reelected in 2013. Last year, he became a grandfather and thus ends the biographical portion of the program. I know how i
