The new Canadian coin, titled Spirit Dragon, is made up of 99.99% pure gold and depicts Shenlong coiling and floating across the sky a dragon of Chinese mythology that "governs the elements upon which agriculture depends: wind, rain, clouds and tempests," the Royal Canadian Mint wrote on its website.

The new $0.50 coin, titled 50-Cent Lenticular Coin Holiday Sledding, features a polar bear and an arctic hare sledding with Christmas trees in the background. Both animals are wearing matching teal scarves as they sled downhill amidst the winter snowfall.
The iconic loonie, which features a Canadian loon on the reverse of the original gold coin, first began circulating across Canada in 1987, after replacing the Canadian one-dollar bill. While the $1 coin is still very much in circulation, the Royal Canadian Mint released a new $1 coin made up of 99.99% pure silver.
