OTTAWA – Over half a million dollars of the federal government’s money is sitting idly in Bank of Canada coffers in the form of various bank accounts and deposits that have remained unclaimed for at least a decade.
Canadian individuals and businesses aren’t the only part of the 2.3 million unclaimed balances worth nearly $1 billion currently looking for their owners while sitting in the central bank.
