O descontrole dos planos de saúde coletivos, que representam mais de 80% do mercado, é antigo conhecido da ANS (Agência Nacional de Saúde Suplementar): em 2013, por exemplo, a Gerência Econômico-Financeira e Atuarial dos Produtos do órgão publicou um estudo com recomendações para colocar limites aos aumentos nessa categoria, entre elas a padronização das cláusulas de reajuste anual. Mais de oito anos depois, e em meio à crise sanitária e econômica, é possível afirmar que a situação só piorou.
Ao contrário dos planos individuais, que atendem apenas 18% dos usuários e devem seguir o índice máximo de reajustes estipulado pela ANS, os planos coletivos não são regulados pela Agência, que alega haver um equilíbrio no poder de barganha entre as empresas, sindicatos e associações que contratam estes produtos e as operadoras.

As we look ahead to the coming semester, uncertainty and fear continue to hang over higher education. While we can hope the new vaccines will help us begin to return to normal, the coronavirus pandemic currently still rages on. Public health demands we maintain our distance and remain as careful and cautious as ever.
In this difficult time, we should be particularly concerned about an often-overlooked population of students at our institutions for whom fear and uncertainty are especially well-known: youth who were formerly in foster care. The assumptions we make about our students having consistent family support, housing, food security, adult mentoring and more may not hold true for these students. And although they are resilient in many ways, such students have already faced substantial systemic barriers to successfully earning a postsecondary credential.

I was pleased to read Roberta Mothersdale’s article about hedges (Aug). I said right from the start of the Entry Level Scheme, that it will be the ruin of hedges. They will grow long and straggly and gaps will appear which ares no good for wildlife to nest in. A hedge should be thick so birds can nest without being seen; they also provide shelter for farm animals. Hedges should be trimmed every year as this keeps them thick and tidy, with less wear and tear on hedge cutters.
