The suspect allegedly used his car as a weapon, a stolen car, and hit the officer. That suspect is still on the loose. It was pretty shocking to have Something Like that happen here. Reporter one of the neighbors on broadmoor boulevard noticed a suspicious car with three men inside and called cops. An officer ran the plate and found out it was stolen in oakland. That officer arrested a passenger outside the car. When another officer arrived as backup and go out of his cruiser the suspect driver headed straight for the officer. The driver immediately accelerated the vehicle, struck the officer, knocking him to the ground, running him over, and then fleeing. Reporter the crash injured the officers leg. I thought we had a tornado because it had that kind of hard driving train sort of sound. It was hammering on the roof so hard, it was pretty bad. Reporter and it was no better on the roads. Driving through a heavy downpour on twisty highway 17 can be nerveracking, but try doing it when you cant see a thing. That was scary. At a spot where the pavement turned into a riverbed, the car in front put up is up a rooster tail, it was like trying to steer a sub through a waterfall. It hasnt been easy on anyone up here in the mountains. Just getting around highway 17 and the other lesser highways up here has been very difficult request road closures, mud slides, rock slides, and as you saw it, heavy rain and heavy water on the roadway.
