More than a week after UMass-Amherst ended its COVID lock-down, what does the data say?

The University of Massachusetts-Amherst imposed an unprecedented lock-down on its students when COVID-19 cases spiked early last month.
The university, which labeled the action a “sequestration,” was in full force for two weeks Feb. 7 to Feb. 21.
Although myriad public health-related social restrictions and testing regimens remain in place, the lock-down was eased on Feb. 22 when some in-person learning resumed.
“These restrictions have moderated the initial surge,” UMass Chancellor Kumble R. Subbaswamy said in a statement to the college community on Feb. 19.
