Investigators are not releasing information regarding the officers’ injuries at this time. Officers later shot and killed the suspect. Update: 05/11/21 12:30p.m. San Luis Obispo Police have released the names of the officers involved in an active shooting incident on Monday, May 10. Detective Luca Benedetti was shot and killed Monday while serving a search warrant to an apartment on Camellia Court in San Luis Obispo. “Yesterday I had to share the most difficult news I’ve ever had to deliver,” said Derek Johnson, San Luis Obispo City Manager at a press conference. “That our community lost one of the dedicated servants while doing his job and keeping the community safe.” Another officer, Detective Steve Orozco, was injured during the incident and was transported to Sierra Vista Hospital where he was released Monday evening. ....
