California Festival: Stravinsky's Rite of Spring

Experience an evening featuring Stravinsky’s whirling The Rite of Spring, which still astounds audiences more than a century after its riotous Parisian premiere in 1913. The spectacular work shocked the world with its vivid depictions of ritual dances in pagan Russia a perfect pairing for the world premiere of Vladimir Tarnopolsky’s Danse Macabre. Mainly Mozart Announces 'Genius Week' at the Conrad

Mainly Mozart – organizer of the renowned Mainly Mozart All-Star Orchestra Festival hosts its 2023 “Genius Week" which will be held at The Conrad Prebys Performing Arts Center in La Jolla. This year's celebration of innovation and “genius in the spirit of Mozart within San Diego” will take place on three special evenings Nov. 14, 17 and 18. World premiere performances Nov. 14 and 18 are part of the inaugural California Festival, a two-week celebration of new music with 95 participating arts organizations across the state.November 14 features a world-premier piano quartet composed by 17-year-old Mainly Mozart Youth Orchestra trombonist Edric Saphire and performed by members from the San Diego Symphony and renowned pianist Anne-Marie McDermott.
