Biden Nominates AAPI Victory Fund Co-chair Dilawar Syed as Deputy Administrator at Small Business Administration


Tech entrepreneur Dilawar Syed, co-chair of the AAPI Victory Fund, was announced March 3 afternoon as President Joe Biden’s nominee for Deputy Administrator at the Small Business Administration.
If he is confirmed by the Senate, Syed would be the highest-ranking Muslim American in the Biden administration, and the first Pakistani American to serve in a Cabinet role. The president had stated on the campaign trail that he hoped to see Syed serve in his administration.
Syed told
India-West he could not comment on the nomination. But in a public post on his Facebook page, he wrote: “I am deeply humbled, honored, and moved by the president’s nomination of me to help lead the Small Business Administration as the Deputy Administrator.” ....

US President Joe Biden on Wednesday nominated Pakistani-American Dilaware Syed to serve as Deputy Administrator of the Small Business Administration (SBA).
Syed, who played a key role in organizing the Asian American Pacific Islanders community and was one of the early supporters of Biden, is the highest-ranking Pakistani-American in the Biden administration.
The White House sent the nomination to the Senate later in the day. If confirmed by the Senate, he would be the highest-ranking Muslim American in the Biden administration.
Syed is president and CEO of Lumiata, an AI for healthcare company focused on reducing healthcare costs and improving patient outcomes. Previously, he was president of Freshworks where he helped scale the software company s products to thousands of small and medium businesses. ....
