Father Mbaka Denies Attacking BBC Reporters in His Church Premises

Spread the love (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Popular Catholic priest, Ejike Mbaka, has opened up concerning the attack on BBC reporters at his residence in Enugu. According to the priest, the team of BBC reporters were attacked after they were suspected to be assassins. African Examiner reports that two journalists, Chioma Obianinwa and Nnamdi Agbanelo, were reportedly attacked by Mbaka and some men at his residence concerning a “negative” reportage about the priest. According to reports, the journalists had gone to the adoration ground with one Cajethan Obiekezie, a Catholic priest, to interview Mbaka on when the altercation happened. However, Maximus Ugwuoke, a spokesman of Mbaka’s ministry, stated that the “estranged” Obiekezie “came with some persons with an unknown identity who were secretly recording the day’s ministry programme.”

Mbaka s Spokesman Denies Attack On BBC Reporters, BBC Insists It s True

BBC head of Igbo service, Adline Okere, however, insisted the story is true.  She said that even their team s accompanying priest, Rev Fr Cajethan Obiekezie, was also beaten up because of an earlier interview that Fr Obiekezie had granted BBC, derogatory to Fr Mbaka.  She said the victims, who came from Lagos, were thoroughly beaten, chased out from Enugu and admitted into a hospital.  Mbaka s spokesman, Ugwoke, however, said: Well, I just got to hear about the story this evening that they are peddling around. I am not aware that it happened.  What I am doing now is to find out if such a thing happened until I reach father before I would know if such a thing happened.
