A fire west of the community of Whitecroft, near Sun Peaks, is getting larger as of Saturday (July 10), with 132 properties on evacuation alert. According to the BC Wildfire Service , the Kirton wildfire, located about 2.5 kilometres west of Cahilty Creek, west of Whitecroft, is estimated at 15 hectares in size as of 5:30 p.m. on Saturday and and is classified as out of control. There has been no word yet on cause of the fire. Smoke from the blaze can be seen from Sun Peaks and parts of Kamloops. While crews work on the blaze, the Thompson-Nicola Regional District has issued an evacuation alert for a number of properties:
