CARRINGTON, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The Carrington Cardinals boys basketball team hosted the Knights of Dakota Prairie on Tuesday night for Class B Boys non-region action. In a back and forth contest, the Knights hold on for the victory 53-51 and improve to 2-2 overall, Carrington drops to 1-2 overall.
The Cardinals led 20-10 at the end of the first quarter, but Dakota Prairie had a big second quarter outscoring the Cardinals 23-9 to take the lead 33-29 at the break. With the score tied at 49 towards the end of the fourth quarter, Garrett Haakenson hit a 3-pointer to put DP up 52-49 and they would keep the lead. The Cardinals had a chance to tie at 53 with under :14 seconds left, but a big block by Garrett Syverson prevented it.
