That is to promote his name up the list of 44 hockey players chosen for a week-long national training camp at the Gold Coast starting on Sunday. Being one of the newcomers, the Ipswich sharpshooter has a chance to show what he can do with a goal of representing Australia at the FIH 2021 Junior Hockey World Cup scheduled for later this year. Profke, who turns 20 in August, is realistic about his prospects. He understands other players vying for national team spots have been in contention for longer.

Subscriber only WITH a final match left to cap a successful Queensland tournament, Ipswich women s coach Hugh Hocking was entitled to be contented as he dodged the Toowoomba rain. His well-drilled side had just qualified for Monday s third-fourth playoff against home team Toowoomba at the Queensland hockey championships. Beating Gladstone 7-0 this afternoon secured Ipswich second spot in Pool B with two wins and a single 1-0 loss to Gold Coast. The Ipswich women opened the tournament with a 4-2 success over Tweed on Saturday morning. They battled through the chilly Saturday night conditions pushing unbeaten Gold Coast all the way.

Gladstone young gun Annaliese Adamson has her sights set on Queensland hockey selection this year.
She is keen to keep improving her game, which was the motivation for her attending the weekend’s CQ Development Camp run by Astro’s Hockey, a business created by Rockhampton product and high-performance coach Neil Shearer.
More than 70 juniors took part in the two-day camp at Rockhampton’s Kalka Shades. Coaches Christine Woods and Morgan Mathison with Isabelle Jensen, Sophie Jensen, Indy Harmsworth and Sienna Harmsworth.
They got to work with Shearer, Australian under-21 players Morgan Mathison, Jonno Bretherton and Cade Banditt, and accomplished local coaches Aaron Harmsworth and Christine Woods from Rockhampton and Shannon Bobart from Gladstone.
