(KSLA) - Hundreds of people across Northwest Louisiana are receiving the coronavirus vaccine at North Caddo Medical Center this week. However, with supply of the vaccine limited, North Caddo Medical Center is reporting appointments in the near future are booked. Vaccinations will also begin Wednesday at its off-site family practice clinics in Plain Dealing and Benton. The rural hospital plans to vaccinate 400 people this week with more inoculations to occur in the days ahead, as another shipment of doses arrives. ....
The vaccines will be available for people who meet certain criteria. The criteria are as follows: Over the age of 70 Hospital employees First responders End stage renal disease facility or dialysis clinics â patients and staff Home healthâpatients and staff The staff of the following facilitiesâdental, ambulatory, outpatient, medical, and behavioral health clinics North Caddo Medical Center will distribute four-hundred vaccines during its first week. Those vaccines are already assigned to patients who signed up. Â More vaccines are scheduled to arrive the following week. At this time, it is undetermined how many additional vaccines will be obtained beyond the initial 400 vaccinations. However, when the number of doses is confirmed to be received for the second round of mass vaccinations, that will determine how many appointments will be available. ....
