it s not just morale. you are right. it s fighting efficiency, it s leadership, capability. these are big organizations. they absolutely look up the chain of command to who is leading them. to not have a commandant of the marine corps in place is staggering. it s beyond extraordinary. frankly, it s outrageous. it s a failure by the legislative branch, but particularly by senator tuberville. why he is putting a hold on this in terms of the politics of the day is not related to the need for the combat capability, leadership that these individuals bring. i will close with this. to hold back someone like c.q. brown, a forward thinker in every way, we need him in there
done. so making clear that there s no movement. he is also at the moment meeting with the joint chiefs of staff nominee, general c.q. brown, who also could be held up for some time. but tuberville believes that brown will be confirmed as he makes clear that he s not changing his approach. meanwhile hundreds of others waiting for promotions as well in key positions let s go back to the press secretary. first if i could ask you to respond to senator tuberville s claim that there has been no outreach from the press secretary on these appointments. is that true? well, thanks, jim, for having me today. i really appreciate the opportunity to be here. the secretary was made very clear when he first spoke to us back in march that we were not changing the policy on
day to penetrate the united states of america in our homeland and around the world. ainsley: i know we are expanding our military presence in guam as well. biden has nominated general c.q. brown for the joint chiefs chairman to replace general mark milley who is retiring in october. do you know this general? what do you know about him? well, general brown has got an extraordinary reputation. his mantra as he chief of staff of the air force has been right on the money. accelerate change or lose facing the reality of what we re facing, particularly with china and to a lesser degree with russia. and he has been transforming the air force to deal with the reality of what we re facing in the indo-pacific region. and he served just recently in that region trying to becoming chief of staff where he knows all of our allies, players in the region. so i think that probably weighed heavy, certainly his personal attributes and reputation for
eject more than 300 miles an hour, landing in the everglades. that s a lot of fun, huh? well, i ll tell you what, he was back in the cockpit the next week with a new call sign, swamp thang. i asked him inside the oval what it was like, but i ll tell you about that later. general brown is also a war fighter who has commanded in europe, the middle east and the indo-pacific and he has an unmatched firsthand knowledge of our operational theatres and the strategic vision to understand how they all work together to ensure the security for the american people. while general brown is a proud butt-kicking american airman, first and always he s also been an operational leader of the joint force. he gained respect across every service, from those who have seen him in action and have come to depend on his judgment. more than that, he gained the respect of our allies and
