Lexington: Crash kills teenager trying to change a tire

A teenager was hit by a car and killed while trying to change a tire in Davidson County early Monday morning.State Highway Patrol officials say it happened around 3:17 a.m. on N.C. Highway 109 near Wylie Lane in Lexington.Officials say 18-year-old Aliyah Garris was stopped on the highway and got out of the car to change her tire. She was standing in the road when a pickup truck driving north hit her. Garris died at the scene.The crash is still under investigation. No charges have been made.
