Soundbaths, Shamanism, Starlight and You! Every year the Starlight Festival in Bangalow transports locals to the celestial plane with soundbaths, shamanic journeys and in-depth everything. Taking attendees through time and space with a sound healing, you can learn to play the singing bowl, browse the market or access ancient knowledge. Featuring Alice Miyagawa, a teacher of harmonium, chanting, mantra meditation, and vocal techniques for singing and meditation. She is also the wings behind The Harmonium Choir – a wonderful group of harmonium players who offer a unique sound healing modality for health and wellbeing. Alice will be leading initiates towards enlightenment with her daily yoga sessions.

After 40 years as a comedian I haven’t been able to travel, and even though there are very few towns (1) where I am still welcome, and even fewer venues (2) who will still have me – I’m itching. Isolating from the world though, is not new, as most entertainers are antisocial misanthropic arseholes, so we love our own company. But I do miss insulting people and hassling others. I know it won’t last forever… but what if it does?

Showing at the Showgrounds! Film lovers will flock to the Bangalow Showgrounds, and the A&I Hall, from January 14, as the village lights up for eight exciting days of films and events. And tickets are on sale now! Opening with the not-to-be-missed drive-in screening of Fellini’s 1960 masterpiece, La Dolce Vita, the program is jam-packed with films for everyone: High Ground, starring Jack Thompson, Simon Baker and Jacob Junior Nayinggul is a Northern Rivers’ premiere. Shot in Kakadu National Park by Andrew Commis ( Babyteeth) and directed by Stephen Maxwell Johnson (Yolngu Boy), this is a great opportunity to preview the film before it hits our local screens.
