Saranac Lake will have a COVID vaccination clinic Thursday at DeChantal Apartments, open to all county residents 60 and over, essential workers and those with underlying medical conditions: https://tinyurl.com/dechantalshot.
Nationwide and statewide, the rate of daily deaths continues to decline.
Vaccination does not mean you cannot catch COVID-19. You may still get the disease, but likely a less severe version. Vaccinated people can still transmit the disease, so continue to take the precautions. Proper mask usage remains critical.
If you wonder which vaccine to get, is one better than another? At this point, get whatever vaccine is available. ....

Over 5 million doses of vaccine have been administered in New York state since mid-December. That breaks down to 3 million first doses and 2 million second doses. Over 10 million people have been deemed eligible to receive the vaccine in New York state, which explains why it is difficult to get an appointment.

There is hope | News, Sports, Jobs - Adirondack Daily Enterprise

The national and New York state COVID deaths per day are decreasing.
We are through the worst of the holiday-induced surge, and, combined with the vaccination rollout, we will hopefully continue to see improvement. The number of people eligible to receive the vaccine keeps increasing, now over half the state’s population. The problem is that the state is only receiving 250,000 to 320,000 vaccines per week. At that rate it will take seven months to vaccinate those already on the list.
The supply of vaccines should improve in the coming months, but assume it won’t be until Thanksgiving that enough people are vaccinated to achieve herd immunity. Even with the vaccine you can still get COVID, albeit a milder case, and you can still transmit it to others. Proper mask usage remains critical. Your mask should be at least two layers of fabric, fit tightly around the face and cover both nose and mouth. Here are the CDC recommendations for masks and usage: https://tinyurl. ....
