VARANASI: The death of a man allegedly in police custody in the Buxa area in Jaunpur district of Uttar Pradesh (UP) triggered protests by locals who indulged in stone pelting, leading to injuries to several policemen on Friday.
Three policemen, including the in-charge of Buxa police station, have been suspended. A magisterial probe into the matter has also been ordered.
According to reports, the police had arrested Krishna Yadav alias Pujari, resident of Chak Mirzapur village, in a loot case on Thursday night. He later died in police custody.
