The mystery of the 250 year old shipwreck at Streedagh has been finally solved by historians. Known locally as the Butter Boat, the skeletal remains of a wooden wreck on the North Sligo beach only appear when sands shift. However, no-one knew the true story behind the boat or how it wrecked, until now, remarkably 250 years to the week it sank. Historians from the National Monuments Service of the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage have found that they are the remains of a ship named Greyhound, which sailed out of Whitby port in Yorkshire in England in the 1700s. ....
